It happens every year at the same time. The whales migrate through the Hawaiian Islands, headed to warmer waters. Always on time and just like clockwork, if you happen to be in Hawaii during December 15 to April 15, whale watching is a must.

For most people who have the chance to experience the whale migration they will return again and again to see these beautiful creatures. Boats take passengers out to various areas for better viewing and it is here that whales will come up to the boat or even breach in and out of the water. It is also possible to see whales from the beaches too; it just depends on luck and the time of day.

Hawaii Whale Watching Is the Best
While there are many places in the United States to see the whales as they migrate, Hawaii truly offers some of the best viewing. Scientists keep up with the pods as they travel yearly through the islands. Many times certain whales, such as the humpbacks, are even given names.

It is easy to identify individual humpback whales because of the coloring on their tail fins. Another thing to remember is that the whales you see migrating in Hawaii are not the same ones you see in New England during the summer. Whales are mammals and remind humans of the magnificence of size and the gentle spirit in each of us.
